John & Lyzaimage

bullit image Winters find us living, as we have for all of our thirty-four years of marriage, in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada, a seaside town just over the border from Blaine, Washington, in the United States. We are at home on the water and in the wilderness with safety and first aid training both on land and at sea. Both John and Lyza are certified coastal skippers and Captain John is an ISPA (International Sail and Power Association) instructor. John's grandfather was one of the pioneer boaters in the Pacific Northwest and passed on his passion for sailing to his sons and grandchildren.

John and Lyza We have raised our four children with the same exposure to boating and they all have been bit with the same bug. Even our three small grandchildren love going out with their 'Grandy' on the Fred Free, our family's sixty-four year old, twenty-six foot wooden sailboat. This is not surprising considering that John's family comes from a long line of seamen, including a great great great grandfather who was a whaling captain out of Massachusetts.

Love of nature and of this coast led us to build a rustic cabin in a lagoon on Nelson Island, a couple of hours north of Vancouver by ferry, car, and speedboat. It's one of the stops on our Jervis Inlet cruise where you can sample some of Captain John's special alder woodchip barbequed chicken or oysters on the half shell over an open fire. It's a little slice of heaven with loons, kingfishers, and bald eagles in residence.

It is our great pleasure to be able to share with others this special cruising area that we are so fortunate to live in and to allow them to experience and learn about sailing on the beautiful BC coast. Come and join us for the time of your life.
